The ICARRD Conference closed on March 10th with the adoption of a Final Declaration.
1.400 participants, representing government delegations from 92 countries, NGOs and civil society observers from more than 150 farmer and civil society organizations worldwide called for a new vision of rural development and agrarian reform that contributes to the revitalization of rural communities and thus reduces poverty and hunger on earth.

Iniciativas para el seguimiento de la CIRADR |

FAO will play a leading role in the implementation of the ICARRD principles, as stated in the Conference Declaration signed by 92 countries.
To this end, the FAO’s Committee on World Food Security (CFS), whose 32nd Session will take place in October 2006 and the FAO Council, one month later, will discuss appropriate measures for the implementation of the ICARRD principles at national, regional and international level.
In addition, FAO has already started consultations with partner organizations, including UN bodies and NGO/CSOs, to find areas of common interest for collaboration in the follow-up process.
